Born in San Fernando, California, Tom Fritz received formal art training at California State University Northridge. Over the next 25 years, Fritz worked as an illustrator/staff artist for a Fortune 500 defense firm before turning to fine art in his spare time. Since becoming a member of AFAS in 1995, he is a seven-time recipient of the Peter Helck Award, two-time winner of the Art Fitzpatrick Award, and has won numerous Athena Awards at the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. Since 2001, Fritz has been a licensed artist of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company and is the creator of the popular U.S. Postal Service’s 2013 “Muscle Cars” and the 2022 “Pony Cars” Forever 5-stamp series. His artworks have been internationally published and can be found in many private, public, and corporate collections worldwide, including the U.S. Government (in the Pentagon), the Smithsonian Institute, Red Bull, the corporate offices of the AAA, the NHRA museum, the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed, General Motors, and Ford Motor Company. Fritz lives and works out of his studio near Thousand Oaks, California.
